To make the most of these moments of relaxation, we suggest a recipe for homemade hot chocolate with CBD. Easy to make, this gourmet drink will help you relax even more while delighting your taste buds. In this article, discover the best recipe for CBD hot chocolate!

Why cook with CBD?

One of the multitudes of techniques for consuming CBD is to cook it! This method, once mastered, is particularly convenient to feel the effects of CBD throughout the day with greed. In the trade there are already grocery shop products enriched with CBD such as candies or infusions, but you can also take raw CBD and cook it yourself in a recipe.

The value of CBD in cooking

Cooking CBD allows you to enjoy its benefits naturally and simply. If you are not a smoker, it is notably a healthy and fun way to consume it. European legislation allows the marketing of CBD-enriched products as well as raw products. However, they must comply with certain rules, such as having a THC content of less than 0.2%.

So you can opt for a CBD-enriched product.

You can therefore opt for products that are ready to use and above all that are just waiting for you to eat them or buy raw products to then cook them. When you want to incorporate CBD into a recipe, you need to turn to flowers, resins or crystals. Depending on the format you choose, you will have to take into account that they do not have the same concentration and therefore you should not use the same quantity. This is also an advantage that you will be able to precisely adapt the dose of CBD according to your needs.

The effects of CBD after digesting it

When you vapourise CBD or eat it, the effects will not be the same. In the form of a vapour, you will experience benefits much faster than if you were to eat a CBD-enriched product. In the latter case, you will have to digest it first before you can see any results. To get a quick effect without smoking, you can use CBD oil and put a few drops under your tongue.

Inversely, when you eat a sweet or pastry with CBD, you have to be patient before it is effective. The same is true with drinks and infusions, which also have to pass through the digestive system before they are assimilated by your body. Once this is done, then you will be overcome by an overall feeling of well-being in both your body and mind! This feeling of serenity will be gradual and longer than if you were vaping CBD.

How to make CBD hot chocolate

One way to use CBD in the kitchen is to create hot, gourmet drinks. Hot chocolate is great for warming up in the winter, therefore when paired with CBD it will be even more comforting. Easy to make, our recipe is perfect for a rainy Sunday in front of a movie or a cold end of the day.

The list of ingredients and utensils

To make a CBD hot chocolate for 2 people, you'll need 500 mL of the milk of your choice, 4-6 tablespoons of chocolate powder, a teaspoon of vegetable oil and CBD flowers. The amount of chocolate is to be adapted according to your taste, you can also add a sweet ingredient to your drink, such as cane sugar, honey or agave syrup.

As far as utensils are concerned, you will need a saucepan, a spatula or a spoon for mixing as well as a chopper or a large knife. For this recipe, you will also need something to filter the final preparation, such as a sieve or a paper filter for coffee. Then, get out your best mugs to pour your homemade hot chocolate into!"

The step-by-step recipe

First of all, you need to decarboxylate your flowers so that you can consume them and your body can assimilate the benefits. Indeed, the cannabinoids will only reveal their effects if you perform this step beforehand. To do this, you need to heat your CBD flowers between 140° and 180° for about 30 minutes. If you also want to preserve the terpenes of the hemp to keep the taste, please do not exceed 150°. This step can be done in the oven, checking regularly that the temperature does not rise too high!

Once you have decarboxed your CBD flowers, you can move on to making your hot chocolate:

  • Start by crumbling your flowers, no need to make a powder as you will then strain the mixture.
  • In your saucepan, place the milk, oil and your flower pieces and heat everything over medium heat without causing it to boil.
  • Patient for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring regularly so the flowers don't stick to the bottom.
  • Once the CBD is infused, strain the mixture to remove any residue.
  • Finally, add the cocoa powder to it and stir to remove any lumps. You can use as much as you like depending on your taste, but remember to put it in last to avoid straining it.

All that's left to do is pour your homemade hot chocolate into mugs and enjoy!

Customise your hot chocolate according to your desires and needs

By making your own flower-infused drink, you can precisely dose the amount of CBD you need. The first time you make this recipe, we advise you to use a small amount of flowers and observe how you feel. To start, 1 tablespoon of flower should be enough, then you can increase the dosage if you want more intense effects.

You can also diversify the taste of your hot chocolate by using different varieties of flowers. This will allow you to give subtle flavours to your hot chocolate depending on the aromas of the flowers you have chosen.

Also, if you don't like the taste of hemp, but still want to find a technique to enjoy the CBD, you can make this recipe and add other ingredients. Spices like vanilla, cinnamon, ginger or even cloves will camouflage the taste of hemp while being ultra gourmet.

With this hot chocolate recipe, you'll enjoy yourself while taking advantage of the benefits of CBD. Make it this winter to warm up and relax at the same time!
